Cosmetic Tattoo / Saline Tattoo Removal Aftercare
After your appointment, there are crucial steps to follow to care for your new tattoo and achieve the best results. It is vital to remember that the outcome of your tattoo depends 20% on the clinic treatment and 80% on the at-home aftercare.
For Brow Tattooing
Day 1: Ensure your hands are clean before touching your brows. Every 2-3 hours, gently wipe through your brows with a clean baby wipe or damp cotton round, pat dry, and apply a small amount of aftercare cream to each brow.
Day 2 - 14: In the morning and evening, wipe through your brows, pat dry, and apply aftercare cream. Expect your brows to be the darkest for the first 1-3 days. They may become dry, flakey, and patchy. Do not pick or itch them, as this can affect the pigment. Your brows may look uneven, but this is part of the healing process. The color will fade down 30%-50% and may reappear over the next 2-3 weeks. Avoid swimming, sauna, steam rooms, or sunbathing for the first 2 weeks. You can use makeup, moisturizer, and cleanser but avoid the newly tattooed area. Light exercise is suggested for the first 1-2 weeks to prevent sweating into the brows.
For Lip Tattooing
Day 1-2: Lips may be swollen initially and will subside in the first 24-48 hours. They may be sensitive, so avoid hot, spicy, and acidic food. Use aftercare cream regularly to keep lips conditioned and clean.
Day 2-7: Continue to apply aftercare cream regularly, and expect lips to get a little dry and flakey. The color will start to fade out up to 50%.
Day 7-30: Lip color may appear pale initially and then slowly reappear. Some days the color will look brighter or warmer or cooler than others. This is normal and is due to natural lip pigment changes. Remember, the new tattoo needs to be treated like an open wound, so keep the area clean. Avoid kissing or touching your mouth while your lips are healing. Avoid swimming, sauna, steam rooms, or sunbathing for the first 2 weeks. Makeup, moisturizer, and cleanser can be used, but avoid the newly tattooed area.
A touch-up appointment is essential to perfect the shape and color of your tattoo. Your artist will assess your skin's healing at the 4-6 weeks follow-up appointment. Additional touch-ups may be needed due to factors like skin type and lifestyle.
For Eyeliner Tattooing
Days 1-3: Your eyes might experience swelling, redness, and sensitivity. Allow your body to heal, and keep the area clean and makeup-free to prevent infection. The eyeliner will appear its darkest during this time.
Days 4-14: The eyeliner may become flaky, patchy, and fade as it heals. Up to 80% of the color may fade during this period, but it will likely reappear in the following weeks. Avoid swimming, sauna, steam rooms, or sunbathing for the first two weeks. You can use makeup, moisturizer, and cleanser, but avoid the newly tattooed area. To achieve the best result, a touch-up appointment is necessary to perfect the shape and color once we assess how your skin has healed. Some clients may need additional touch-ups or more frequent maintenance appointments due to individual factors.
Touch-ups ($150) and additional touch-ups ($99) must be done within 4-6 weeks of your last appointment. We cannot guarantee the outcome due to individual skin and lifestyle differences, but proper aftercare is crucial for the best results.
For Saline Tattoo Removal
The area will be very red and may have blood on the surface. This is because of the coagulation process and it is nothing to worry about. You may GENTLY wipe the edges of the area clean from blood with alcohol pads following the procedure. Don't cover the area; it must be open to air and begin forming a scab.
Blot the area with clean cotton rounds every hour for the first 3 hours.
Keep the area dry as much as possible. If they get wet, let them dry immediately (don't rub with a towel) and NEVER let them soak underwater or in the shower. You must keep them dry until the scabs have shed on their own completely.
No creams/moisturizers/ointments until it is time to use the Healing Cream you are given free at the appointment.
Use sun-screen AFTER all scabs are gone. At this point you will also start to use a small amount of Healing Cream on them, but never use before the scabs are all gone. Use this a couple times a day until your next session or until you run out.
No HOT showers, or saunas directly after the procedure. Shower pressure should not go directly on the treated area for 14 days.
You really shouldn't touch them but if you find yourself needing to for some reason, your hands must be completely cleaned with antibacterial soap before.
If the area starts to get itchy, this is normal, don’t itch the area under any circumstances. This can cause scars, poor healing and bad results which will be a waste of money for you.
NO exercising for 10-14 days after your appointment. The salt in sweat can cause poor healing. Please don't exercise, even if you "don't sweat."
Try and sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or stomach could increase the risk of pulling off healing scabs. Clean your pillow case prior, so there is less chance of the treated area coming in contact with bacteria.
Do not pick or itch the scabbed skin. This is unlike microblading, so pulling off the scab does not mean you will pull more pigment out of the skin. It will ruin the process if scabs are forced to come off. Even small amounts of picking, or "helping" a scab fall off can drastically change how well you will heal and how red your skin will stay underneath.
No sun/tanning beds for at least 3 weeks
You may use a cleanser on the area again once the scabs have shed.
NO anti-aging creams of any sort in the area for 3 weeks.
You may wear makeup on the rest of your face but don't put any makeup on the treated area.
You will see the results after the scabs come off.
