Cosmetic Tattoo FAQs

  • HOW LONG DO PROCEDURES TAKE?

We allow up to 2-3 hours for each procedure including your initial consultation, drawing up your design, and the tattoo procedure. It is important that you arrive to your appointment on time, or preferably 5 minutes early, because each step of the process is equally as important and we cannot go ahead with your appointment if you are more than 15 minutes late.

  • HOW LONG DO COSMETIC TATTOOS LAST?

Ombre & Combination brow treatments last approximately 2-5 years. Microblading treatment last approximately 12-18 months.

Many environmental factors will affect the pigment longevity and also your lifestyle, skin type, medications and hormones.

It is recommended to return for a 'Colour Boost' appointment every 12-24 months to ensure your cosmetic tattoo is always looking fresh.

  • I'VE HAD A COSMETIC TATTOO DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE BEFORE, DOES THAT MATTER?

If you have had a cosmetic tattoo in the same area that you would like THE BROW CONNECTION to tattoo, you must send us a photo of your existing tattoo prior to booking to ensure that we can work over the tattoo you already have. We can tattoo over existing eyeliner, lips and eyebrows, however if your existing tattoo is too dark or you would like the shape changed significantly, you may need to have your existing tattoo removed first.

  • WHAT PERSONAL FACTORS WILL EFFECT MY TATTOO?

There are a number of personal factors that can affect the results of your cosmetic tattoo and you will be asked a series of questions during your consultation to help better understand your circumstances. Some common personal factors that may affect your results include:

-If you have an extremely oily skin type, we recommend a combination or ombre brow as excess oil production can make feather strokes fade more quickly.

-Smoking can cause the tattoo to fade more quickly.

-If you have mature paper-like skin, or photoaged skin, you should consider an ombre brow as feather strokes can blur during the healing process for these skin types.

-Having a higher tendency to bleed during the procedure will reduce the amount of pigment that is being absorbed into the skin. This can occur in clients who have a very “rosie” complexion, or who are anaemic or iron deficient. This is also why we require clients taking any form of blood thinner to seek medical advice about stopping medication ahead of your tattoo procedure and request that no alcohol be consumed within 24 hours before your procedure.

-If you are concerned about whether your skin type or lifestyle is suitable for cosmetic tattoo, please feel free to email us with any questions and photos of your concerns.

  • CONTRAINDICATIONS

There are a number of contraindications for cosmetic tattoo and it is important that these are considered carefully. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a cosmetic tattoo if you:

    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

    • Are under the age of 18

    • Have sunburn or fake tan on

    • Are epileptic

    • Diabetic

    • Are currently undergoing radiation or chemotherapy

    • Have any broken skin in the treatment area (including acne or cold sores)

    • Suffer from keloid scarring

    • Use glaucoma eye drops (eyeliner only)

    • We also will not tattoo over a mole.

  • CAN I BRING MY CHILD?

We respectfully ask that clients please make alternative child minding arrangements for their COSMETIC TATTOO appointment as cosmetic tattoo procedures are not a child safe environment.
